Is the SnowDrifter 20L waterproof?

It handles snow and a shower without being waterproof: the ripstop nylon is TPU-coated, but the seams aren't taped. In proper rain, put anything that mustn't get wet in a dry bag inside.

Do a shovel, probe and skins fit in 20 litres?

Yes, for the day: the probe and the shovel's handle and blade have their own sleeves, the skins go in the lumbar pocket and the skis ride outside, in a diagonal carry. For a night in a hut, you need something bigger. Shovel and probe aren't included.

Which back length should I choose?

Eiken sells size M, for a back of 41 to 48 cm. Measure from your C7 vertebra (the bony bump at the base of your neck) down your spine to the top of your hip bones.
