The Kapten & Son Åre Daypack Lite is a 13-litre daypack of 700 g, made for a day that starts at the office and ends on the trail.

The front opens wide (Easy Access), a sleeve takes a 14-inch PC or a 15-inch MacBook, and the side mesh pockets hold a bottle or hiking poles. A breathable padded back, a chest strap, an anti-theft pocket on the side, a small zipped pocket on top, and a rain cover in its own pocket at the bottom. 42 × 28.5 × 13.5 cm, water-repellent, vegan.

Does my laptop fit?

The sleeve measures 38 × 25 cm and takes a 14-inch PC or a MacBook up to 15 inches (Air 13, Pro 14, Air 15). A 16-inch MacBook or a 15.6-inch PC is not among the sizes announced: take the Fyn.

What fits inside for a day out?

13 litres: a light top, a cap, a guidebook, sun cream, the phone, sunglasses and a water bottle in a side pocket.

Is it rainproof?

The fabric is water-repellent: rain beads off. For a real downpour, pull out the rain cover from its pocket at the bottom.

Is it a real hiking bag?

For a day out, yes: a breathable padded back, a chest strap, side pockets for poles or a bottle, and the rain cover. For several days, 13 litres is short.

Can it go in the cabin?

At 42 × 28.5 × 13.5 cm, it fits the usual cabin allowances and the 45 × 36 × 20 cm under-seat ones, but not the 40 × 30 × 20 cm ones (42 cm high).

Care

Lukewarm water and mild soap on a cotton cloth, then let it air-dry. Never in the washing machine, never with chemical cleaners.
