Deuter · Freescape Tour 32
Skis on your back, kit strapped outside: 32 litres for multi-day tours.
At the col, you open the pack from the back without unstrapping the skis, pull out your down jacket and zip it shut again. The Freescape Tour 32 is built for multi-day ski touring: 32 litres under a roll-top and a lid that rises with the load, a LiteSnow back that snow won't stick to, and attachment points for skis, rope, ice axes and snowshoes.

What fits inside
32L
32 litres, and a lid that rises as the pack fills up.
The main compartment closes with a roll-top, topped by a height-adjustable lid: loaded for three days, you raise it without it getting in the way of your head when you look up; for a day out, you take it off. At the front, a separate pocket keeps the shovel, probe and first-aid kit close at hand.
- Shovel, probe and first-aid kit, in the avalanche safety pocket
- Goggles, in the fleece-lined top pocket
- A hydration reservoir up to 3 L, and a pocket for wet gear
Three ways in

Deuter
Augsburg, 1898: mailbags first, then backpacks.
Hans Deuter opens a canvas workshop in Augsburg, Bavaria, and is soon sewing mailbags for the Royal Bavarian Post. In 1938, the first ascent of the Eiger North Face is made with a Deuter pack on the climber's back.
In 1984 came Aircomfort, a tensioned mesh that holds the pack away from your back. The Futura series took it up in 1999, and the Futura Pro carries it today.
Deuter guarantees its packs for 2 years against defects in materials and workmanship, on top of the legal guarantee, then repairs them at a shared cost. For a pack bought from Eiken, the claim goes through us.
Eiken's take
- Why we chose it
- It opens from the back without unstrapping the skis and grows at the top: what you need on the third day of a tour, when your fingers are freezing and all you want is to grab your down jacket.
- Worth knowing
- 1,130 g empty and a 44 to 54 cm back length: if you're under 170 cm, go for the Freescape Tour 30 SL.
- Who it's for
- Ski tourers and splitboarders who string several days together in the mountains, from hut to hut.

Questions
What are the dimensions and weight of the Freescape Tour 32?
64 × 30 × 22 cm (height, width, depth, pack full) and 1,130 g empty, for 32 litres. Recommended load: 4 to 8 kg.
What back length is the Freescape Tour 32 made for?
It's made for a back length of 44 to 54 cm and a height of 170 to 195 cm. For a shorter back, the Freescape Tour 30 SL has the same construction in an SL fit: 38 to 48 cm back length, for 158 to 178 cm.
Freescape Tour 32 or Freescape Lite 26?
The Tour, at 32 litres and 1,130 g, is for multi-day trips: roll-top under an adjustable, removable lid, full opening from the back. The Lite, at 26 litres and 1,000 g, is made for the day: same LiteSnow back, same avalanche safety pocket, and it opens from the top or the side.
How do you carry skis or a splitboard on the Freescape Tour 32?
Skis attach diagonally or upright on the side; a board is carried upright on your back; a pair of snowshoes straps onto the front. Ice axes attach on both sides, the rope on top.
Is the Freescape Tour 32 waterproof?
Its main fabric is water-repellent: water beads up on the surface. That doesn't make it waterproof: in steady rain, water eventually gets through at the seams and zips. Anything that has to stay dry goes in a pouch.
