Db Journey Bags

The office during the week, a flight with one bag, a day on skins. Db designs bags that open fully and hold their shape, and says for each one where it goes on the plane.

The office, the plane, the mountains: bags that open fully, sorted by use.

City and office

For the working week, and Friday evening.

All three Huggers open fully, like a suitcase: the 20L for the day, the 25L for a 16-inch laptop and trainers, the 30L for a short trip. The Essential Rolltop for the bike commute in the rain.

25 L · 1.13 kg · overhead locker

The office bag that goes away for the weekend, with a pair of trainers on top.

30 L · 1.23 kg · overhead locker

For a short trip, or if you carry more than the essentials every day.

32 L · 1 kg · roll-top · 16-inch

The bike commute: waterproof materials and taped seams.

20 L · 1.03 kg · under the seat on easyJet

A day in town, and under the seat on easyJet. A 13-inch laptop, not a 16.

Photo and video

Camera kit, organised, in an everyday bag.

The Ramverk Pros come without an insert: the M insert fits the 26L and the 32L, the deeper L insert only the 32L. Take it out, and it's your weekday bag again.

26 L · 1.5 kg · M insert sold separately

With the M insert inside, it's a camera bag. Without it, your weekday bag.

32 L · 1.54 kg · L or M insert sold separately

For the L insert, or for several days away with your gear.

15 L · 0.82 kg · Ramverk Pro, Snow Pro 32L

The camera compartment that sits in the bag, and comes out when you don't need it.

19 L · 1.1 kg · Ramverk Pro 32L

Deeper than the M, for a gripped camera body. For the Ramverk Pro 32L only.

In the cabin

What goes on the plane, and what goes in the hold.

Db sorts its bags into three places. Our size limits are calculated from the bags' dimensions; each airline sets its own rules.

Under the seat

Personal item, free on most flights.

Overhead locker

The cabin bag, above the seats.

In the hold

Too big for the cabin.

Depending on the airline: they are meant for the cabin, but they are deeper than the 25 cm of the 55 × 35 × 25 cm limit. The Backcountry packs, the Snow Pro 25L and the Essential Rolltop are not designed for the cabin.

Travel bags

Two halves, clean on one side, dirty on the other.

The Split Duffels open down the middle into two compartments and carry on your back. The 30L fits in the cabin, the 50L depending on the airline, and the 70L and 90L go in the hold.

30 L · 1.4 kg · 48 × 30 × 25 cm

The only one of the four stated for the cabin: the office, the gym, a short flight.

50 L · 1.8 kg · 51 × 28 × 32 cm

The weekend, clean on one side, dirty on the other.

70 L · 2 kg · 59 × 38.5 × 33 cm

A week's travel, in the hold, and on your back as far as the train.

90 L · 2.4 kg · 64 × 43 × 35 cm

Two weeks' travel, or bulky gear. In the hold.

Ski and off-piste

From the lifts to ski touring, skis or board on your back.

The Backcountry 20L for a few runs from the lifts, the 25L when you climb on foot. The Snow Pros for touring: the 25L for day tours, the 32L for a full day or with your camera.

20 L · 1.05 kg · shovel and probe

A few runs from the lifts, then the working week in town with your laptop.

25 L · 1.35 kg · back-panel access

Skis or board strapped on, ice axe holder, for climbing on foot.

25 L · 1.4 kg · roll-top

Day ski touring: skis in an A-frame, avalanche kit in the front pocket.

32 L · 1.53 kg · roll-top · M insert

A full day out, or your camera with you in the mountains.

Sling bags

The essentials on you, or a 16-inch laptop worn cross-body.

The Roamer Pro 6L opens across its full width and is worn on the front or the back. The Ramverk Pro 24L takes a 16-inch laptop and expands when you need it to.

6 L · 0.25 kg · front or back

Opens full width: phone, passport, keys, a jacket held outside.

24 L, expandable · 16-inch laptop

A 16-inch laptop and your day, worn cross-body rather than on your back.

What goes inside

Laptop, tablet, washbag: each in its place.

The Ramverk sleeves and organisers can be worn on the shoulder on their own or slipped into the bag. The washbag and cubes keep things apart in a travel bag.

14-inch · 0.29 kg · 3.5 cm thick

A sleeve you wear on your shoulder on its own, with no bag around it.

16-inch · 0.34 kg · 3.5 cm thick

Laptop and passport on your shoulder, or on the suitcase handle.

16-inch · 0.57 kg · 11 cm thick

Laptop, water bottle and passport, under your arm on the train.

13-inch · 0.42 kg · 9.5 cm thick

Your tablet and what you use in your seat, within reach on the journey.

12.5 × 18 × 9.5 cm · 0.17 kg

Chargers and cables, opened in one go. A shoulder strap that tucks away inside.

22 × 25 × 12 cm · 0.2 kg · hook

The padded washbag, to hang up next to the shower.

3 cubes, S, M and L · 0.418 kg

The large one expands and keeps dirty shoes apart.

The brand, as Eiken sees it

Born in Oslo, between an engineer and a freeskier.

Db was born in Oslo in 2009, when a Norwegian engineer met a Swedish freeskier. You know its bags by their ribs: the Rib Cage, an ABS frame that keeps the bag in shape, even half empty. Designed in Scandinavia, made in Vietnam. Db has been B Corp certified since 2023.

Legal guarantee of conformity: 2 years. Out of guarantee, Db repairs in the European Union on quotation: €38 for a strap, €25 for a buckle.

Eiken's take

Why we chose it
Db designs its bags for travel: they open fully, hold their shape and tell you where they go on the plane. And the range hangs together: the same camera insert moves from one bag to the next.
Worth knowing
No hydrostatic head rating is published. Only the Essential Rolltop has taped seams; the others shed light rain, not a whole day outdoors.
Who it's for
People who travel with a single bag, and people who carry gear: camera, ski, sport.

Questions

Before you choose a Db bag.

Which Db bag fits as hand luggage?

The Hugger 20L under the seat on easyJet; the Hugger 25L and 30L, the Ramverk Pro 26L and 32L and the Split Duffel 30L in the overhead locker. The Split Duffel 50L and the Snow Pro 32L depending on the airline, as they are more than 25 cm deep. The Split Duffel 70L and 90L go in the hold.

Which Db bag for a camera?

A Ramverk Pro with an insert, sold separately: the M insert in the 26L, the M or L insert in the 32L. In the mountains, the Snow Pro 32L takes the M insert. Without an insert, they're everyday bags.

Are Db bags waterproof?

Only one: the Essential Rolltop 32L, with waterproof materials and taped seams. It can't be submerged. No hydrostatic head rating is published; the other bags shed light rain.

Which Hugger size should I choose?

The 20L for the day and a 13-inch laptop, under the seat on easyJet. The 25L for a 16-inch laptop during the week and a weekend away. The 30L for a short trip, up to three days.

Which Split Duffel should I choose?

It depends on how long you're away: the 30L for a short flight in the cabin, the 50L for the weekend, the 70L for a week, the 90L for two weeks or bulky gear.

Do Db ski packs have an airbag?

No. The Backcountry and Snow Pro packs have a pocket for shovel and probe, but no airbag: they aren't avalanche airbag packs.

Where are Db bags made?

Designed in Scandinavia, made in Vietnam. Db has been B Corp certified since 2023.
