ICON Rolltop 16" backpack: the laptop comes out the back, the roll-top stays shut.

The ICON Rolltop Backpack 16" is a roll-top Sandqvist backpack: 26 litres, water-resistant recycled polyester and leather details. In the morning, the laptop slides into its zipped pocket at the back; the top rolls down over everything else and fastens with a metal hook. At the office, you take the 16-inch out from the side without unrolling a thing.

A 16-inch laptop backpack: the back pocket opens without touching the roll-top.

The laptop pocket is on the outside, at the back of the pack, closed with a YKK zip. It takes a laptop up to 16 inches: 28 × 45 cm, so check yours against that. The top stays rolled over the main compartment while you take the laptop out.

What are the dimensions and weight of the ICON Rolltop 16-inch?

65 × 28 × 16 cm (height, width, depth) and 760 g empty, for 26 litres. The laptop pocket measures 28 × 45 cm.

Is the ICON 16-inch waterproof?

No, it's water-resistant: the fabric copes with light rain and everyday splashes. In steady rain, water eventually gets through; a pouch for anything that mustn't get wet is all you need.

Is this the Bernt?

Yes: the ICON Rolltop Backpack 16" is the Bernt, reworked and renamed. Sandqvist also calls it the ICON Rolltop Backpack L.

Does the ICON 16-inch fit in the cabin on easyJet, Ryanair or Air France?

As a cabin bag, its 65 cm height is 10 cm over the 55 cm limits (Ryanair, Air France) and 9 cm over easyJet's large cabin bag (56 cm). When the pack is lightly loaded, the top rolls down further: measure it before you fly. Size limits checked in October 2026: check with your airline.

Is there any leather?

Yes: the tab on the roll-top strap and the details are leather, from tanneries rated Gold or Silver by the Leather Working Group. A little leather balm now and then keeps them supple.
